Your role
IBEX and LYOBA are being built right now, and someone has to design the structures that lift, hold, and move them without a scratch.
PAVE Space is building LYOBA, a heavy kick stage moving up to 4-ton payloads from LEO to high-energy orbits in under 24 hours. We’re also building IBEX, a high-mobility LEO/GEO spacecraft. Neither gets integrated, tested, or shipped without mechanical ground support equipment, and very little of it exists yet. That’s the job.
So, why now?
IBEX launches in early 2028, and LYOBA follows in late 2029. The flight hardware is under construction today, so the GSE that handles it has to be ready ahead of it. You’ll take designs from received requirements to manufactured, proof-tested hardware.
You will own
Design, production, development, test, integration, of advanced manufacturing tooling and equipment for LYOBA, Pave Engines, IBEX and future projects within cost budget and schedule constraints
Select vendors, fabrication method, inspection requirements, supplier acceptance testing, factory acceptance testing and commissioning of custom tooling
Writing of user manuals with usage instructions
Models and drawings in NX and Teamcenter, ready for manufacture
Procurement of parts and sub-assemblies when buying beats building
Assembly, integration, and load testing of your GSE, hands on
Mechanical interfaces between the GSE and the vehicles
What we are looking for
2 to 5 years in mechanical engineering
You’ve designed spacecraft GSE that was actually used on real hardware
Expertise in Design for assembly, manufacturability and production rate (DFx)
Ability to design mechanical mechanisms and systems
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes and fabrication methods by CNC, Mills, lathes, welding, sheet-metal bending, Lifting/rigging etc
Fluent in interpreting and applying design and drafting standards as per ASME Y14.5 or ISO GD&T
Ability to interact and take input from multiple stakeholders, like component designer, manufacturing engineers, system engineers and technicians
Experience with NX & Teamcenter CAD/PLM systems
Solid structural sizing, from hand calculations to FEA
Fluent English (our working language)
Nice to have: fluidics GSE experience, EGSE experience, French.
You will fit if
You want your CAD to turn into real hardware instead of sitting in a folder.
You’d rather own the whole stand than one bracket of it.
You’re at ease in the workshop assembling and testing what you designed.
The role is fully on-site in Villeneuve (VD), because we have a strong on-site culture. The GSE function is being built from scratch as you join, so processes and standards are still taking shape, and some of what you design will need a second iteration. What makes that worth it: your work goes straight into supporting the large hardware we’re building right now. You’ll see IBEX and LYOBA sitting on structures you designed.
We are building to ship, grounded on real hardware, real funding, real milestones. Apply to contribute, or send this to the GSE engineer you know who’d rather build it than just draw it.
